Big (Fish) Update

First, the exciting news:

Big Fish will be available for purchase on April 1st!

Since this is my first product on my new (squarespace) website, I can’t guarantee that the release will go off without a hitch, but everyone starts somewhere. I also have to admit that funds ran out when I got slammed with an $800 medical bill, and as a result, I wasn’t able to get the pattern tech edited like I had planned. I have been over it a million times and am fairly confident in my editing abilities, but I can’t promise that it will be perfect. I hope it is, but… we’ll see.

The other news is just that I need to be honest: I’ve really been struggling lately mood-wise, and that has been a big factor in this pattern being delayed so long. I haven’t wanted to work on the website and such because that part isn’t fun for me like pattern writing is. Earlier this week I finally accepted that I need to find a therapist, and although I reached out to one, I haven’t heard anything back yet days later. That’s always unhelpful when you’re already down, haha. I’ll reach out again today.

“Friendship Ribbon” Quilt - free pattern coming soon!

I really wanted everything to be perfect and spiffy before I introduced myself as a pattern writer with Big Fish and the Friendship Ribbon (a freebie coming soon), but delay after delay after delay is making me feel like a complete failure before I’ve even begun. I have a ton of insecurities already because I’m not nearly as innovative as many of the quilters I see on instagram, and with my chronic illness dragging me down, I can’t be nearly as prolific as the quilting influencers are, either. I have wondered if the few hours per day I can devote to this effort will be enough to sustain the momentum necessary to make it a successful little business venture.

I guess we’ll find out.

There is a lot I still want to do in the next few days with making sure my links and QR codes in the patterns all work, creating graphics to post on Pinterest, getting my email list up and running, getting the Friendship Ribbon freebie page built and making graphics for that, plus hopefully taking some glamour shots of the Big Fish sample quilt I recently finished. I need to find a scenic location for photos, or just wing it in my house!

Just know that I am very busy behind the scenes while also battling my own personal demons.

I am not giving up yet.
